High Surf Advisory and Dangerous Rip Currents Persist Along Southern California Coast

A high surf advisory is currently in effect for several areas along the Southern California coast, including Catalina, the Santa Barbara Islands, the Malibu Coast, and all Los Angeles County beaches.
Hazardous beach conditions are also impacting the San Diego and Orange County coastlines, with the advisory expected to remain in place through Thursday afternoon.

Why It's Important?

The hazardous ocean conditions pose a significant risk to swimmers, surfers, and boaters. Rip currents can pull individuals out to sea, while large waves may cause injuries, wash people off beaches and rocks, and overturn small vessels. The ongoing high surf advisory highlights the increased likelihood of ocean drownings and other water-related accidents. Residents and visitors to the affected areas are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid entering the water unless absolutely necessary.
